A Broad Outline of Vedanta. Intuitive Approach of Shankara's Vedanta.

The Madhaviya Shankara Vijayam, the most popular and widely accepted account of Sri Adi Shankara's life, describes the advent of Sri Adi Shankara thus - 'The One sitting under the banyan tree, Lord Dakshinamurti (Shiva), the Teacher of the Supreme Truth through the medium of silence, left his place of meditation. Shankara was born to Aryamba and Shivaguru, a Nambudri Brahmana who belonged to the Vedic branch of Krishna Yajur Veda. Shankara's birthplace was Kalady in Kerala, on the banks of the Poorna river. Kalady is situated a few miles from Tiru Shiva Perur (present. The full title of this book is 'The Bhagavad Gita - With the Commentary of Sri Sankaracharya, Translated from the original Sanskrit into English by Alladi Mahadeva Sastry.' The book contains the Sanskrit text of the Gita in Devanagari script followed by its translation, and also the translation of Sankara's famous commentary or Bhashya. Rare Book Society of India.

Prasnottara Ratna Malika (प्रश्नोत्तर रत्नमालिका) of Adi Shankara is a collection of 67 verses comprising of questions and answers pertaining to both spiritual and temporal living. This book comprises of the sanskrit verses and their english translation.

Many of the answers are so accurate that we find ourselves transported for a moment into a sublim state of peace and silence. At the same time in some rare cases, the answers to some questions do not seem to be given by a highly enlightened soul like Adi Sankara. It is generally considered that this text was
authored by Adi Sankara though some scholars do not agree with this. We do not know if some of these verses are later interpolations.

However, this text is a boon for seekers of self-realisation.
