Today, I am going to read the scientific papers about what the effects physical abuse can have on children. Welcome to my summary of all the studies I read about the subject. Most of the studies are behind pay-walls so I have to make do with free studies.

• The children’s false stories came about as the result of relentless emotional and psychological pressure as well as significant physical abuse. Torture is the most accurate way to describe what was done by Mr Christie in collaboration with Ms Draper.

• Both children were assaulted by Mr Christie by being hit with a metal spoon on multiple occasions over their head and legs, by being pushed into walls, punched, pinched and kicked. Water was poured over them as they knelt semi-clothed.

Mr Christie really messed RD’s children up. Didn’t he? Those are such terrible long-term health effects on those poor children’s minds.

Physical child abuse clearly has significant adverse consequences for the victims. Research has shown that physical child abuse can contribute to the development of antisocial personality disorder and a lower IQ. Victims of physical abuse may be: less likely to go to school, have lower grades, more likely to be suspended, higher aggression, more delinquent behaviors, social problems, thought problems, and social withdrawal.

Yeah… Physical child abuse is very bad. RD’s children may likely still suffer the effects of Mr Christie’s abuse. Thank goodness that he is considered guilty of child abuse. Unfortunately he and Ms. Draper are still on the run as fugitives escaping the law. I hope he gets caught.

The good news is that there is research on preventing child physical abuse. Campaigns, organisations and even governments have risen up against child physical abuse.
