Depending on the distribution method you used to distribute Microsoft Office, how you update the software may vary. The following table outlines the update procedure based on the distribution method:

If you don't see 'Check for Updates' in the Help menu, click here to download the latest version of the Microsoft AutoUpdate tool. Select 'Automatically Download. Microsoft made changes to the location and wording of Windows Update and its settings almost every time a new version of Windows was released. Below are three sets of instructions for changing/disabling Windows Update: one for Windows 10, one for Windows 8, Windows 7 or Windows Vista, and one for Windows XP. Microsoft AutoUpdate 4.22 was broken but is now fixed There are widespread reports that Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU) version 4.22, which was released on 14 April 2020, doesn’t run correctly. If you have any of the Office 365 apps installed, you may find it trying to run repeatedly at frequent intervals, when it reports no updates are available. Microsoft AutoUpdate can keep Office up-to-date behind the scenes if you wish. To turn on automatic updates, select Automatically Download and Install (or Automatically Check if you want to be notified of updates before installing them). To check for and install updates manually, select Manually Check. Microsoft AutoUpdate makes sure your copy of Office will always be up-to-date with the latest security fixes and improvements. If you are a Microsoft 365 subscriber, you'll also receive the newest features and tools. Check for updates and install. Open an Office app such as Word.

To allow Microsoft Office to be updated, your environment must meet the requirements outlined in Mac App Store Apps in the Jamf Pro Administrator's Guide.

Updating Microsoft Office that was distributed via managed distribution can be accomplished using one of the methods outlined in the 'Updating a Mac App Store App' section of Mac App Store Apps in the Jamf Pro Administrator's Guide.

Policies

To update Microsoft Office distributed using a policy, you must ensure that Microsoft AutoUpdate has also been distributed in your environment. The basic procedure uses Microsoft AutoUpdate to update Microsoft Office.

Updating Microsoft Office that was distributed via a policy can be accomplished using the following methods: Blockhead game zombie wars.

  • Method 1: Customize the default settings for Microsoft AutoUpdate using a configuration profile configured with the Applications & Custom Settings payload in Jamf Pro. This method is useful for establishing a schedule for updates.

  • Method 2: Update Microsoft Office and other Microsoft applications from the command line by using the following instructions: Update Microsoft applications for Mac by using msupdate
    This method is useful if there is a critical update and you need every computer to apply the update the next time they check in with Jamf Pro.

  • Method 3: Distribute an updated version of the Microsoft Office Installer using a policy. This method is useful for force updating a large scope of computers at a specified time.
